Rituals and Observances
Rituals marked the various stages of progression toward becoming a nun. On November 22, 1945, the Cincinnati Post newspaper published "Post Camera Records Life of Candidate for Sisterhood," a photo spread explaining the steps and ceremonies involved for those aspiring to become Sisters of the Good Shepherd. Postulants wore wedding dresses to the ceremony where they became novices, dressed in white habits and veils. After 2 1/2 years they received black veils as Sisters.
